A STUDY COMPARING TRENDS IN NUMBER OF AND CONTENT IN ARTICLES ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ELDER ABUSE IN JAPAN

Abstract Since enactment in 2000, Japan’s Domestic Violence (DV) Law has been amended four times. No amendments have made to Elder Abuse Prevention Law, despite awareness of its imperfections. This study examined trends the number journal articles, and titles by content those using a KJ Method, determine how research literature informed DV law, identify gaps knowledge further needs related elder abuse that could inform policy change. Using CiNii database, 2005-2021, we found1020 articles (average 60 articles/year), 2001-2021, 836 40 articles/year). Preliminary analyses revealed per year annual average decreasing for each. Although most used term was similar both which “responses professional personnel,” 15.4% 13.4% DV, title terms differed, with are more likely be caregiving, such as “support caregiver” (who actually abusers) (4.7%) “dementia” (3.6%), while found but not included “supports victims” (7.1%) abusers” (5.3%). Our findings indicate on supporting victims may imperative lder law changes.
